McAfee 30day trial
Hi all,
This month I helped my Dad purchase a Dell laptop. It came with a 36month subscription for McAfee SecurityCenter.
The first thing I did was reinstall Windows Vista and re-partition the hard drive. Before formatting the hard drive I didn't register with McAfee and now it's only offering me a 30day trial instead of our paid 36month subscription.
I spoke to McAfee and they said I need to speak with Dell. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I get my 36month subscription?
Many thanks
Matt

Look in the mirror to see the root cause of the problem.
Seriously though, if you wiped the drive as you say (which sounds rather stupid to me on a brand new machine) you still have the Dell service code on the machine somewhere right?
Use that and work your way through the system. Better you than me man. It wont be fun.
Good Luck

I didn't post on here for you to take a dig at me, I'm trying to get some support. I work in IT, I know how this all works, however I was hoping there was some information on this problem. I bet it's not the first time this has happened.
Stupid is buying a machine that is packed full of useless software and isn't partitioned to help for long term use. If you don't understand the advantages of why I reformatted the machine then you're not the kind of person that should be responding to this problem. Please don't insult my intelligence.
I've already submitted support which includes the service tag in the request. I was hoping the community forums could help my before the Dell support opens up on Monday.
