The network scan manager software is included in the downloaded driver. I would reccomend using this as there is sometimes problems with the drivers on the cd that stops the scanner being detected.

So download the driver and you are all sorted :)

now it works without  any problems. Really a good decision to use the updated driver.

Yeah there was an issue with the driver that went out on CD, Always best to use the latest drivers. Just do not touch the firmware!

Burrelly,

This may well be the solution to my problem also - I can print to my 1815dn via my network with no problems at all, but the Network Scan Manager that I installed from the CD that came with the Printer refuses to recognise the 1815dn as a Scanner on the network.

Could you please point me to the download for the updated 1815dn 'Scanner' Software / Driver?

Thanks.

The download worked a treat.

I do find it difficult to believe, however, that Dell don't seem to realise that a key piece of software that they supply with this MFP simply doesn't work!

I couldn't find any reference to this in their Knowledge Base, but maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough.

Thanks, once again, for your help in resolving the problem.

Burrelly - I am having the same issue as is described here. I downloaded the driver you indicated (http://ftp.us.dell.com/printer/R130695.EXE), but this seems to be for vista 32-bit, and my machine is 64 bit. Will it still work (without crashing my machine)? Thanks. Steve H.
