OCR software needed for scanning - where can i download?
I do not have the original disk (ok, that's not true...it's somewhere in my house in a box far, far away) and I need to install the OCR software so that I can scan documents. I called the Support desk and they were very helpful, but gave me incorrect information. They said it was in the driver download off the dell driver site. It does not download with the drivers. I tried to install SimpleOCR, but there are no directions on how to make the printer find that software and recognize it as a replacement.
Can anyone help me out? the only reason i got this printer was because it was a 3-1. I need to get some docs scanned and right now, i'm dead in the water. Please help!
I use both XP and Vista laptops.
thanks,
Tracy

Tracy,
It's nicer with the Abbyy Fine Reader program from the printer disk. You can use Simple OCR to scan the documents. I would still use the Dell All-In-One Center to scan images.
