WD19TBS Issues with Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 6
Hi everyone,
Hoping someone could help me on this. I have recently bought a WD19TBS which connect to either:
1- XPS 9360 (personal) - monitor (via DP) and peripherals (USBs) work
2- Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 6 (work) - monitor (via DP) work but peripherals (USBs) don't. The peripherals work when I plug them directly into the laptop. Also the power button of the docking doesn't turn on when the laptop is plugged
Could there be any specific reason for that? Already updated the firmware of the docking.
A secondary question, if I buy another Thunderbolt cable and keep both laptops connected at the same time (one via the attached cable to the docking and the other via the new one), is there a way to switch between both by default from the docking? Or should I buy an external device that allows to switch inputs? Or is this not possible at all? I am trying to avoid plugging and unplugging the thunderbolt cable across laptops each time I want to use another.

I had the same issue with my X1 Carbon Gen 6 on a DELL Thunderbolt Docking Station. I found out that I had to change the Thunderbolt Security Level option in the bios to 'User Authorization', so you can 'authorize' the dock to work with your laptop (in Thunderbolt software). You can refer to this Lenovo guide https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-x1-carbon-type-20a7-20a8/20a8/solutions/ht503639-how-to-configure-the-thunderbolt-3-security-level-in-bios-setup-for-microsoft-windows-operating-system-thinkpad , I also had to change the display memory to 256MB to enable that option in the BIOS

I just realized the power button on the dock is still not working. I think this maybe Dell's propriatary feature designed for Dell's laptops. Regarding switching between two docks. Yes, you would need an external KVM switich if you don't want to unplug the thunderbolt cable all the time.
