RAID - Intel Matrix Storage Console & Windows 10
Hi, I'm unable to upgrade from Intel Matrix Storage Manager to Intel Rapid Storage Technology as my Chipset is not supported. I'd be grateful for a response to questions at the end.
PC: Windows 10 x64bit, Precision T3400 Core 2 Quad Q9550 (X38 Express chipset). Twin 1TB HD configured as RAID 1 (Mirror) using Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Console is version 8.9.0.1023 - yes, ancient!
Background: The Raid has worked flawlessly over the years but I had to bite the bullet and successfully upgraded to Windows 10 (from 7). I then removed one of the mirrored HD to preserve as an off-line backup, replacing it with a new HD.
On restart, I used & to access Intel Matrix Storage Manager and configured the manager to rebuild the Raid to the new HD. Then exited the manager to allow the rebuild process to complete in the OS. I've done this many times over the years.
Problem: To monitor the RAID rebuild process I started Intel Matrix Storage Console which failed to load with the following messages:
"The RAID plug-in failed to load, because the driver is not installed correctly"
"The serial ATA plug-in failed to load, because the driver is not installed correctly"
I think the msgs refer to:
PlugInRAID_CSY.dll (RAID Plug-in for Intel Matrix Storage Console)
PlugInSATA_CSY.dll (SATA Plug-in for Intel Matrix Storage Console)
Questions: As I was able configure the RAID for a rebuild and the Plug-ins refer only to the Console, can I presume that the Storage Console is an interface to the Storage Manager and since the rebuild takes place in the OS, it should work?
Tks

Hi,
I never got a response to my question. However, having now successfully rebuilt my Raid on two occasions, I think that my presumption that the Storage Console is an interface to the Storage Manager, to provide information on the status of the rebuild is correct. It does not seem to affect the rebuild which takes place in the OS. The only downside is that I have to allow a more than generous amount of time for the rebuild to complete.
Hope that helps!
