Performance Problem on a Poweredge R510 server

Hi, thx in advance for those who will be kind enough to read my story :)

Recently buy a DELL Poweredge R510 for one of my customers here are the specs :

2xIntel Xeon processors (X5670)

32 GB Ram (2x16)

8x450 GB HDD

H200 Controller (Yes i know :))

After installing Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, I was having some freeze while using the server. each 8 seconds, the server will froze for 1/4 sec and so on... I've tried everything including :

-Removing one of my two CPUs

-Removing 3 of my 4 memory sticks.

-Removing 7 of my eight hard drives.

-Putting all the firmware (server / raid controller) up to date

-Putting all the drivers (VGA / network / chipset / RAID) up to date.

-Putting all the updates from Windows Update.

Nothing work ... It's better when the drivers are upgraded.. but not so well.

then I have tried an ultimate test : Windows Server 8 Beta (Build 8250)

When I'm installing it : NO PROBLEM .... Copying files ay 130 Mb/s over the network and, after rebuilding two RAID 10 on the H200, around 300 Mb/s in copy between the two RAID array ..

Back to server 2008 R2, still have problems...

Please help me to understand :(

Hi,

This has already been suggested by the dell hotline.

No problem under CentOS :(

Youu Shiii,

It could be a number of things. Lets try a couple.

This is a link to 32 Bit diags, it will assist you in creating bootable media to run diags on. -

After running those let me know of the results.

Then boot to this ISO, it is OMSA LIVE - linux.dell.com/.../OMSA65-CentOS6-x86_64-LiveDVD.iso

What we will do from the OMSA live GUI is to see if the freezing occurs outside of the Windows Server Environment.

Let me know the results.
