Dell Optiplex 790 USFF Serial Port Driver WIndows 10

Hello,

My 790 USFF is running Windows 10 version 1909 64bit. Device manager shows the serial port is not working - no driver found. No Win10 drivers at all are on the Dell site so I assume Win10 is not supported. Win8 doesn't show a serial port driver.

Any ideas where I might locate a driver? What serial chip does it use? Plans are to drive an external modem (old school).

My Optiplex 790 Specs:

i7 2600 3.4GHz CPU (yes, the 95w version)

8 GB RAM

2TB SATA Hard drive

Thats INTEL AMT SOL HECI chipset driver.

Download ALL the drivers at one time as a cab file.

They will be WIN7 drivers because there will never be win10 drivers.

move the downloaded cab file to the my documents folder

Very important step BEFORE extraction

install 7zip

https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Extract the contents of the cab file by right clicking the cab and saying extract here using 7zip.

Then go into device manager and right click on yellow ! in device manager and say update drivers from my pc instead of from the internet.

Once this is done right click device manager and scan for hardware changes

Everything should work now.
