wireless signal meter, volume meter, brightness meter..where are they?
Just got a vostro 1520 and I've searched all over the place but i cannot find how to get these meters on my screen. Brightness isn't too critical but the other 2 are something I really miss having.

Right click start, left click properties, left click notification area and check the boxes for what you want shown.
What do you mean by having the brightness appear on the screen?

Hmm i guess my descriptions are poor. What I mean is on other computers like my work d630 i have 5 bars on the task bar showing me signal strength, when i put the volume up or down there is a small rectangular box on the screen showing it go up and down, and the same with brightness..it's like a horizontal bar/meter.

Not quite sure but I think you're looking at Dell QuickSet.
Go to Drivers & Downloads, enetr your service tag number. Under applications, download and install Dell QuickSet.

I dont see quickset there and dont think it's available for the 1520
