one computer says it does not have permission to use network resource.
I've tried to set up a network of 2 computers using advice below (in firewall question.) Both access internet, and one will show both computers in its workgroup (although I can not actually access both computers). The other computer gives the following message when I try to view workgroup computers : "(workgroup) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available." Any suggestions?

I am using a router and the firewalls on both computers are disabled.

The most common reason for getting this message is the presence of a Firewall that is preventing access on the local network. Disable all firewalls (including the Windows XP firewall) until you get this problem solved. Once you have solved the problem, you can configure the firewall to allow local network traffic. But, if you are behind a router, do not re-enable the Windows XP firewall as it is redudant and cannot be configured to allow file and printer sharing on the local network.
