Turn it off, then turn it back on.

Most routers have software in them that can be accessed from your web browser.  It is usually something like 192.168.1.1.  You can type that in the browser or whatever is the right one for your router.  Your routers manual will tell you.  There should be an option to restart the modem.

you can do this from your laptop so you wont even need to leave the couch.

To do a power cycle you should

1. Turn off everything in this order - PC,  Router (UNPLUG it from back), Modem (UNPLUG it from back)

Wait 5 min.

2. Turn on in this order - Modem wait 2 min. then Router wait 30 sec. then lastly PC.
