Why can my Dell Laptop connect to wifi but not get internet through it?

I have a dell vostro 3400, and I can connect to any wifi network, and while other computers can get internet through them, I can only get limited access. Also, I am running connectify(internet sharing program), a virtual wifi router and I can connect devices to it, but they cannot get internet through it (even when my laptop gets it through Ethernet). Is this a hardware problem? Software, OS? I've had the comp for over a year and it's always worked perfectly... Thanks!

xael821,

Is there a reason that you don't have DHCP enabled.

Start, control panel, network and sharing center. Click on your network, properties. Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties. Have your settings match mine.

xael821,

You said...

What operating system are you using? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Try running an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

xael821,

Hit the Windows key and the R keys at the same time. Type

cmd

type

ipconfig /all          (space between the g and /)

Right click on the top ot the log, then left click copy, then paste it back here.

xael821,

On all systems, when you hit the Windows key and the R keys at the same time, you'll see...

For XP, you have the type

command

For Vista/Windows 7, you have to type

cmd

Hit enter. Type

ipconfig /all

Help!!!

My desktopPC is the main computer in this house and we have wireless.  Two desktops and both are working; however, my laptop was working this morning, lost connection to wireless and I cannot get it connected back.  I was doing what I usually do in the morning and so nothing was different. How can I reconnect?  I am so confused by this.

Appreciate any help to get me out of this jam...

Thanks,:emotion-9:

s32144,

Power off the ISP modem/routeer and the wireless router(if any) Wait 30 seconds, then power on the ISP modem/router. Wait 15 seconds, then power on the wireless router(if any).

Restart your computer.

Try to connect.

What happens?

I did that this morning because I assumed (never should assume :) I guess) that the whole network was down.  The other computers would go online but my laptop wouldn't.

I have Windows 7.   I am just not technically inclined when it comes to this kind of thing....

I was looking at Kim Komando's site and saw this.  I think I could have written it - same type of thing that happened to me except mine is a DELL.

"Yesterday my wireless connection on my new Gateway computer failed. I made the mistake of calling Technical 'no' Support. I talked to someone who I could barely understand. I was told that I would have to reformat and reinstall windows. Then I would have to make arrangements to have my laptop shipped to Gateway for repair. Then the real shocker, I was told that it would take ten,(10)business weeks to repair the issue. What a joke for a solution to their product.

I did have Dual-band Wireless-N USB Network adapter that fixed the issue right now. Why do these big computer companies treat the customer like dirt?"
