Internet connection probs. Can only access internet through a proxy....

Hello! (sitting on my stationary computer typing)

I can't acces the Internet without any proxy settings. :smileymad:

I study at Stockholms University, Sweden and I have access to a wireless network and also the Internet. When connected to the wireless network I wanna surf the web but this is what my problem is all about.

First of all the network on our school has the configuration so that you don't need any proxy to have access to the Internet.

When I try to visit a site (every single site i've tried) it just doesn't show. It has nothing to do with the site's not up and running since google.com usually is :smileyhappy: and I have tryed several of them.
I get the message that the site is unavailable and simply can't be visited due to some other stuff, they list potential problems. So i decided to try something out and completly randomly configurated a proxy within my internet connection settings. Wrote the random proxy and its port
EX. login.sys.kth.se port 80.
Now when i try to access a webpage it works ! Yay but now there is problem if i wanna use MSN at the same time i can't connect to it. Tho i don't wanna use a proxy since it's messing things up, but for now it will do just fine since i can connect to the Internet.
I even went to the IT-support at my university and asked them what the problem might be. They swept through my connection settings etc. and they found that everything was in order so they had no clue on why I am the only one at school that needs a proxy to be able to visit the web.

I face the same issue at home with my wireless network. I can connect to the network itself without any problem but when it comes to accessing a website it just doesn't work UNLESS i again set up a random proxy thus my router isn't even configured to be in need of any proxy at all. I've looked on the settings several times to ensure that I haven't missed anything.

Anyone out there have the same problem? Or are there any techsupport dudes willing to help me out with this. I want my Internet connection to work properly. As it is now it's not 100% sure even with a proxy that it will work, so some defect there must be somewhere in this tiny machine.

Best regards
Markus

I can get on the internet on my GUEST ACCOUNT, but when I try to go onto another  ACCOUNT like my own,I can not get connected to the account! All the accounts should have the same settings. Under the LAN Settings (ON THE GUEST) the following are marker with a check mark Automatically detect settings-AND Bypass PROXY server or local address! on the other accounts I CAN NOT change this to the By pass proxy server or local address and this seems to be the only difference in the accounts and I want to know if any one else has/had this problem and if you did/do HOW do I fix it? Also I am the administrator and I can not change this on my account either and I have run into another problem today where I can't even get my site to come up after I put in my password, I get a black screen. HELP please I do not want to have to spend over $300.00 again to get this computer fixed. I have a Dell Desktop with windows 7 on it.:emotion-42:
