serial number mismatch, check system device ordering
hello,
environment:
network server:aix 5l hostname:ns570p4
network client:aix 5l hostname:ns570p9
library:ibm ts3100 (only 1 drive, connect to san environment ,shared for ns570p9 using dds)
a fews days ago,we find out the old IBM TS3100 library can't work because some hardware problem ,so we bought a new one, today we use dds it get some errors:
nx570p4 daemon:notice root: NetWorker media: (alert) device "/dev/rmt3.1": serial number mismatch, check system device ordering. Expected "Serial Numbers:WWNN=50060B0034313533:ATNN=IBM ULT3580-TD3 1265784153:1265784153", found ":WWNN=2001000E1110D6E8:ATNN=IBM ULT3580-TD4 9310247013:9310247013"
Mar 27 16:00:34 nx570p4 daemon:notice root: NetWorker media: (warning) rd=ns570p9:/dev/rmt3.1 reading: read open error: command
so i reconfigure it:
1、delete library in networker console(with gui)
2、delete library in os:
on ns570p4:
rmdev -dl /dev/rmt24.1 (inquire can see /dev/rmt24.1's wwwn number is 2001000E1110D6E8)
on ns570p9:
rmdev -dl /dev/rmt3.1 (inquire can see /dev/rmt24.1's wwwn number is 2001000E1110D6E8)
3、rescan device on both host using cfgmgr
4、reconfigure it on ns570p4 and configure a dds for ns570p9
Jbconfig is running on host nx570p4_srv (AIX 5.3),
and is using nx570p4_srv as the NetWorker server.

Jukebox has been added successfully
The following configuration options have been set:
> Jukebox description to the control port and model.
> Autochanger control port to the port at which we found it.
> Networker managed tape autocleaning on.
> At least one drive was defined with multiple paths. All such drives are
defined with a hardware identification as well as a path value to avoid
confusion by uniquely identifying the drive. The hardware identification
for all drives which have one is always 'autochanger_name - Drive #' where
"autochanger_name" is the name you gave to the autochanger that was
just defined, and the # symbol is the drive number.
> Barcode reading to on.
> Volume labels that match the barcodes.
> Slot intended to hold cleaning cartridge to 23. Please insure that a
cleaning cartridge is in that slot
> Number of times we will use a new cleaning cartridge to 5.
> Cleaning interval for the tape drives to 6 months.
You can review and change the characteristics of the autochanger and its
associated devices using the NetWorker Management Console.
Would you like to configure another jukebox? (yes/no) [no]

i goolged this error and find there is a same problem has been resolved :

but i reconfigure it by jbconfig and get this error again.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

hi Itkubi,
I would suggest you to start from scratch, and delete all device and jukebox entries using nsradmin.
Please see the steps below:
1.- Stop NetWorker Services (ensure there is no nsr processes running).
2.- Take a copy of /nsr/res and place it somewhere
3.- Open command prompt in NW server and run the following commands from the specified path:
#cd /nsr/res
#nsradmin -d /nsrdb
NetWorker administration program.
Use the "help" command for help.
nsradmin> . type: nsr device
Current query set
nsradmin> p
.
.
.
nsradmin>delete
Delete?y
This will delete the device
nsradmin> . type: nsr jukebox
Current query set
nsradmin> p
.
.
.
delete
Delete?y
This will delete the Jukebox, so now you should have the configuration DB clean of devices and Jukeboxes.
Delete /nsr/tmp folder and start NW services again.
Then open NMC and check in the Devices tab, if there is any unconfigured device (orange icon).
If there is then follow the procedure to delete the unconfigured device:
https://solutions.emc.com/emcsolutionview.asp?id=esg100197
If there is no unconfigured devices then simply scan for devices again and then select Configure all libraries.
If this fails check the error messages in the Log monitor of NMC.
Otherwise you can run jbconfig again, but don't bypass the autoconfigure option, unless you have the Element ID and device path.
Let us know how it goes, if it fails you can do as follows:
run this command:
inquire -l
Note down the WWN of the device.
Then run this other command
sjisn x.x.x
where x.x.x is the SCSI ID of the jukebox. This will return the element ID of the device.
If you are asked to type the path of the device with element ID xxx then simply write it down /dev/rmt/xxx
Hope that helps.
Thank you.
Carlos.
