NMC backup has not been run
I'm sure this has been a common issue I just can't seem to wrap my head around the proper way to resolve it.
I saw an event message that said "No Backup of the NMC database hs been performed"
I followed the wizard to create the policy, there are 2 clients in the server protection group that need to be backed up. However when I try to run it I get an error about "no matching devices for save set of client, check storage nodes, devices, or pools"
From my reading, it looks like we can't use the data domain (our target for backups) and need a local target for the NMC db to be backed up to. How do I go about creating this for a successful NMC backup? When I try to add another media pool under the devices it only shows the single Data Domain.
Anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this error?
Thanks,
Derek

hi
there is no problem to write NMC backup (or sever protection policy backups) on the Data Domain.
at first, did you read this jobs log?
(go in monitoring, on the workflow in server protection policy, look detail job log and if it may, send a capture of this error log to forum.
but let try some things :
lets test that - 1 - can you get backup from you server protection policy on a AFTD device ? (that is assigned to a media pool)
--> if its true, it means that it may that your device assigning to a media pool is not correct!
2 - if you can not back up in you server protection policy on any another devices, it may caused that you "media pool" is no correctly defined !
a good direction to get backup win NW is that you create a Media Pool and then add a Device and assigned it to your media pool .
Be sure that your backup destination is defined correctly.

Yes, I set the media pool up incorrectly. Thank you! Once I had the pool correct the server protection service runs the backups just fine. Is there a need to add the physical box into another backup group for a full system restore?

It is depend to your strategy in backing up.
but its so better that user a external storage (such as Data Domain) to set your backup destination .
for sure for can get backup in multiple destinations.
and when you want to restore your backup, you should assign your device to new networker server and use "nsrdr" command for restoring backup.
