Index recoverable to browsable

Hi

I am trying to restore a backup that was recyclable.

I have taken the neccessary steps to make the savesets browsable and that is OK.

However the index for that same time and date is recoverable.

I have tried the nsrck -L7 and also tried scanning the volume.

This does not seem to work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Index is always recoverable saveset.

What you should check is the actual saveset you wish to restore in which state it is.

I am still having problems with this. The savesets I want to restore now some Orracle RMAn backups are in recoverable. I have don nsrck -t -L7 for the client but no avail.

I still can see the Inedx for the date is recoverable.

Resolution
1. Recover the data as well as update the index and media database.

What about retention?  If retention of the saveset didn't pass for Oracle saveset, then nsrck -L7 should work.  If it passed, you must change retention time first, make saveset recoverable with nsrmm and then call nsrck -L7.

Saludos.

Manchi-tn,

I have used a translator for the text below in case it is of help, but it may not be 100% accurate so if you can read English it would be best: -

English version:

I have translated your post and I think there may be some misunderstanding or translation issue, I will try and advise: -

When a saveset (index or normal) becomes recoverable the ssid is still available in the NetWorker Media Database along with other information for the backup but not the individual file details. At this point we only know the actual saveset name. Mminfo command can be used to interrogate the Media Database, nsrinfo is used to see the Client File Index detail.

If you do know the exact path to the file you wish to recover then you do not need to try and repopulate the index as from the command line you can specify the path and other details of the backup and we will be able to get this back. This however does not work for directory recoveries as you will only get the actual directory and not its contents.

Index savesets are always recoverable and belong to the NetWorker server. Savesets are browsable and have all the details until this date is passed and NetWorker performs its housekeeping to clean up the client file index.

We have a Support solution deals with what you require - it is only necessary to run Scanner when the volume information no longer resides within the Media Database which usually is not the case unless your bringing a tape in from another NetWorker server: -

esg98649 – Recovering backups with expired browse/retention times.

We cannot answer your question because we do not know what one has been done.

However - if the SSID is valid, then NW should also know about the media.

On the other hand - if you just remember the SSID but you have deleted it or the volume from the media index, then NW does not know the media any longer.

You should run "mminfo -q ssid= -r mminfo, volume" to verify that.

Unfortunately you did not state the result of the scanner command.

After the scanner completed i can see the Data from 2013 in saveset for the media and it browseable

So if i run the Networker User and browse to the Date in 2013 i can browse the files and select the file to be restore.

But if i do a check media required it states unknown media ?
