P2213, Raspberry Pi 3 B, HDMI out to DP in not working?

So, I have a Raspberry Pi 3 B (My only computer). I have an HDMI to Display (Male to Male) cable and it's not working. I plugged my Pi in and verified that it is on and working (blinking green LED). I plugged the HDMI to DP cord to the monitor and turned it on. It does not display. The Pi booted Raspbian Linux, but the monitor is showing nothing.

I've seen a similar thread related to my problem, https://www.dell.com/community/Monitors/Dell-P2213-monitor-not-working-via-displayport/td-p/5111285

but does not solve my problem. I did see however on the bottom that VGA seems to work with this monitor. But I do not own such a cable (nor I have the money for it). How can I fix this?

A PC video HDMI out port cannot upconvert to a monitor video DP/mDP in port via a straight conversion cable.

I know this may be a bit unrelated, but i came across this thread while searching for a solution to my problem. I recon others will stumble across this too.

For people who have this problem while connecting to a desktop (with radeon graphics), check the adrenalin software for custom resolutions.

The problem, as i discovered is with the timings. I found that GTF (general timing formula) and CVT reduced blanking works with this monitor. So you have to figure out how to set these display timings.

I spent days over this and was going to buy a new monitor to solve this issue.

Thankfully everything works now.

@chinmay343  and @Bio_Hazard1282_rPi3 , the issue is that the vast majority of DP to HDMI cables do not work for the direction you're trying to run.  See this post of mine for more background.
