Lot of ACPI errors on XPS 15 9550 with latest firmwares

Hello there,

with current latest firmware 1.6.1 (and also a few previous series) Linux is complaining about a lot of ACPI errors and firmware bugs. Since then I think I've lost between 1-3 hours of battery life. I've opened a bug upstream about this, with full dmesg and acpidump output

https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198877

In a related bug report for Fedora a Red Hat developer suggested this to be fully a firmware fault and it should be reported

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1413342#c43

hence here I am. Anybody could help or give more information about this?

Thank you.

Kind regards.

Enrico

Hello,

I also see those errors since I have bought my Dell workstation with Linux pre-installed. I've reported the problems about one year ago to the Dell service team and they told me that it is a kernel issue.

Now I'm facing another bug:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1530978

In combination with the already mentioned suggestion of a kernel developer I think that Dell should fix their firmware - especially for products which are sold as Linux workstations. Here I totally agree with:

While I'm not sure at all it's the same issue you have it looks like Kernel people (from Intel) are blaming the BIOS and Dell is blaming Kernel eheheh. See https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109511#c16 Hopefully they will come to an agreement :)
