"application init error" when accessing Dell support web site
I have just done a fresh install of Windows 10 on an Inspiron 17 and want to update drivers. I go to the Dell support web site and want to start the automatic system detection. The result is an error page saying: "Error: 500 Server Error. Application Init Error. We are unable to display the requested page."
Then I enter my service tag. Here, the result is that the service tag is not found (I am paraphrasing a Japanese message).
Perhaps there is a problem with the Japanese web site? I go to the front page at dell.com and change the country to USA. After a moment, the same Japanese front page is displayed again.
Any suggestions what I can do to update the drivers?

I have the same problem. If I use my service tag, message is "Error: 500 Server Error Application Init Error. We are unable to display the requested page." When I use my friends service tag (he has the same laptop) I get normal response from website and I can download drivers. But with my service tag I get only error page every time. What can I do?

The same thing is happening to me as well. It worked before. I don't believe Dell will help as I'm pretty sure why this message appears. Your laptops (mine as well) appear in their system like this but they don't tell you. How I found out about this? I have a friend that works for Dell customer support.
