laptop fan runs constantly

Hi There,

Over the past couple of weeks, my laptop fan is running more often then not. I downloaded I8kfanGUI to track the temp of my laptop. When it's idle, it sits at approx 56-58c. When I start working on anything, it starts to shoot up. My fan comes on as soon as it hit's 60c. I've read a lot of places that an idle laptop should be around 35-45c. I've cleaned the vents out with compressed air, and updated my BIOS to A17, and that doesn't seem to help. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

My laptop is Inspiron 6400, Core 2 Duo T7200@ 2 GHz

Have you closed all programs running in background?  Also type msconfig in search box hit enter, select startup tab>scroll down list and uncheck all programs not needed at start up.

Run disk defrag,or set it to run at a certain time.

Also  delete temp. internet files and delete history files.
