dell computer flashing orange light .. please help

I have a dell inspiron 15 laptop .. bought it 2011. Ive seen this problem a few times and i thought i was able to fix after problems ive had with my computer, but now its back and kinda annoying.

on the front of my computer there is a white power light that turns orange when my computer is almost dead. That isn't the problem. Normally when i connect my charger, nothing changes (besides my power saving settings), but now the power light flashes orange to white and back to orange non-stop. Also my charger is plugged in when this happens and its fully charged. Now when i remove my charger from the computer the light stops flashing, and of course the battery is on it own.

Does this have anything to do with getting a new battery? Ive check my computer and it says ive only used 48% of my battery use.
