can I disable touchpad automatically, when mouse is plugged in?
Seems to me that this should be automatic. Why would anyone want to use the touchpad when their mouse is plugged in? My problem is that my thumb keeps accidentally tapping the touch pad, and the cursor jumps to weird locations in my document.
It's making me crazy! Thanks.

Actually this is something that I'm going to require also...any clues, hints, etc...would be greatly appreciated as I'm getting 100s of laptops from Dell in the coming months! Compaq's app for the touchpad (and even in their bios) you could disable the touchpad. (Oh...the O/S is 2k)
Thanks again!

I notice in the BIOS that you can set the Touchpad to 'disabled' when a PS2 mouse is plugged in. The D600 does not have a PS2 mouse port and this feature does not appear to affect the Touchpad when a USB mouse is plugged in.
Does anybody know when Dell plans to rectify this problem as it's driving a couple of my users nuts!
Thanks

mchong,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Yes, go into the system BIOS and look for an option that says PS2 MOUSE.

I have just received a D600 for work. The touchpad/stick is driving me crazy, I keep deleting text by mistake.
Have set the bios to PS2 Mouse, this is supposed to disable the touchpad/stick when a mouse is connected, doesn't change a thing.
I guess I will have to disable it altogether.
Any ideas.

Further to my previous entry.
A colleague has a different Dell, model C400 I think, he broke his USB/PS2 adapter so he plugged the mouse into the USB Port.
Previously the Touchpad was disabled when the Mouse was installed in the PS2 port,
When using the USB port the Touchpad was NOT disabled.
As the D600 does not have a PS2 port the problem is obviously the same, the system does not recognise the USB Mouse as a PS2 Mouse!
Thanks
Ross
