SynTPEnh.exe 3% CPU usage when gestures enabled

I'm on Dell Touchpad / Synaptics version 17.0.15.84, the latest supplied with the XPS 15, and am finding that when I enable Touchpad gestures, SynTPEnh.exe uses 3% of my CPU any time I use the touchpad.  I am working on figuring out how to improve my battery and found that this process is up there in terms of CPU usage.

Has anyone had any luck complaining to Synaptics about this?  I tried downloading 17.0.19 directly from their website but their driver is unsigned (or maybe just signed with SHA1) so I would have to disable driver verification in order to install it; I would prefer not to go down that road unless I knew it would resolve the issue.
