Serial port/usb for palm
I posted the below question on the wrong board:
The selected COM1 is not available at this time, Hotsync manager will open the port when it becomes available. Apparently this port is continous active and under my device manager(ports are not listed.) I'm using a usb serial connector, (I do not have the cd installation for this cable) , is it possible that a usb cd software would create another port? IS there a way to create another port?
Re: My PlamVX won't connect to my new Dell Ispiron 6000, no connection available

You should configure the hotsync utility to use a USB rather than serial port.
When you post back, please post in the Inspiron general hardware forum.
Good luck.
Could someone tell me exactly how to configure the hotsync utility to use the usb?
Thanks

Reinstall the Palm Desktop software (you can download it from Palm using your serial number from the device) and choose USB connection.

You're quite confused.
You say when you go into Hotsync you get an error message? Or AFTER you've played in Hotsynch you get the message?
Your issue is that you have setup Hotsynch to use the serial port, Com1, but you don't have this port on your computer. So, it will NEVER work. Right click on the Hotsync icon on your taskbar and make sure Local USB is checked, and Local Serial is NOT checked.

Tried to connect again no luck.
Oh I don't know if this matter but I am using the palmconnect usb, the one at this site:
http://www.palm.com/us/support/accessories/usb/palmusb.html but I no longer have the original software, I tried to download it but my computer reads that the file is corupted.
Thanks again you are very helpful

This is what I've been thinking.
Do you know of a place or site where I can get this download besides the palm site or purchase for a reasonable price (cd-software)?
Thanks for alll of your time and patience
