Removing system password on D610>

Hi...is there a way, other than replacing the motherboard, to remove/reset a system password on a D610?  The original owner is long gone, no clue what the password is.  Can't boot off of cd or anything to try any utilites.  Have tried pulling the CMOS battery, no luck.

If is is a BIOS password you are asking about, for laptops, only Dell can help you get past it with a master password after you prove ownership to them.  If the laptop is out of warranty, I believe you have to pay them $39 for the tech support.

Same deal - the registered owner will have to call Dell, or you will need to replace the mainboard.

no, not bios password, the system password.  That a user puts in so the system won't boot up until the pw is entered.  I gotta get rid of THAT.

system is still under warranty.
