Plugged in, battery not charging

My Inspiron 1525 dell laptop's bettery is plugged in, but the battery status is "Idle" and my charger is reconized, and my battery's life is normal, and yet I get 4 orange LED flashes and 1 blue flash on the battery LED located to the left of the touchpad, this has really got me confused because the charger is reconized and the battery's health is normal.  any help woulld be greatly appricated.  and I cannot install BIOS because my battery charge is 0%, and in idle, maybe it's just a setting that's got it in idle or something I'm really confused and I am not a computer newb so I don't need explinations for 2 year olds.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi Joykilla199,

Flashing orange LED indicates the battery charge is low. As you have mentioned the charge remains 0%, this might be a battery problem. What is the age of the battery (the time since you are using this battery)?

Check the battery health. To check the battery health using the charge gauge, press and hold the status button on the battery charge gauge for at least 3 seconds. If no lights appear, the battery is in good condition and more than 80 percent of its original charge capacity remains. Each light represents incremental degradation. If five lights appear, less than 60 percent of the charge capacity remains and you should consider replacing the battery. Dell Battery Gauge looks like the image below:

My battery  is a M911G Dell battery, it doesn't have the feature yours does.  And my computer says it's battery health is good.

Hi Joykilla199,

You have mentioned that your computer says the battery health is good. If I am correct, you have checked the battery health by using the “Battery Meter” in “Dell QuickSet”? If not, please install the “Dell QuickSet” application and check the “Battery Meter”. You can download and install the “Dell QuickSet” application by clicking here. Furthermore, I would like to know how old the Dell Battery you are using in your computer is.

Please do write back to us.

It says "Your battery is preforming normally" and my battery would probley be 2 years old, i bought it used with the computer.  I also noticed something as i was checking the battery health, it said my charge was 1%, and that leads me to think the charger is the part that is not working properly, I am going to test a different AC adapter just in case.

I too, have Dell Battery M911G and have been having (new) issue with low/no battery.  I will test using a different adapter.  Just so I know, is this battery available in case my issue is not the adapter?
