Latitude Keyboard/Touchpad/Pointing device does not work

I had a user install a Logitech Cordless Keyboard/Mouse combo unit on a Dell Latitude C600/C500 unit with a docking station.  Now when the user undocks, the onboard keyboard, touchpad & pointing device no longer work.  I have attempted to uninstall the drivers/software for the cordless stuff and still am not able to get the laptop to use it's own input devices.  I have disabled the cordless stuff and rebooted and still have no luck.  I have booted from a floppy and get to the A:\prompt and am able to type...I have reviewed the Logitech website for help and have found things to try but no luck.  Can anyone help to just get the system back to working before the user installed these cordless devices?

lost_arrow,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You could do a system restore for when the external devices were not installed.

That is just an unacceptable answer. A complete system restore is not a viable solution to an obvious hardware driver issue. Please take a little more time in "troubleshooting". This problem is obviously widespread and no one is going to take a system restore as a solution to this problem.

I too have now experienced a train wreck with Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse configuration. The problem is with an Inspiron 2100. Diagnostics show the touchpad as functioning fully. Any attempt now to connect an external pointing device causes the keyboard to cease functioning. I have attempted to install the latest Synaptic drivers but to no avail. I even tried to force the drivers for a generic PS/2 pointing device and then "update" the drivers to use the latest Synaptics but that resulted in the same problem. Once any Synaptic drivers take affect the keyboard ceases to function as well.

I have the same issue and got the same advice  from the dell support group.  I also noticed that in the hardware profile under the mouse properties it says "the driver for this device was not required and has been disabled [code 32]".  I am going to try the registry edit you suggested but I am also wondering what utility you are talking about?

Gr8!   I struggled with Dell & Logitec to get this resolved...I just hunted and hunted for numerous resolutions and hours...it helped that I had an extra laptop to try one idea after another and browsing website after website.  I just got lucky - I guess...and I am so glad that we all got this resolved!

Sorry if the advice sounded Dellish...I swear I don't work for them....anyhow if you have a Latitude C600 series, here is the the link for the Synaptic utility I am referring too...http://support.dell.com/FileLib/Type.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&Category=17&OS=WNT5&OSL=EN&SvcTag=&SysID=LAT_PNT_P4N_C640&DeviceID=283

Hope this helps!

FYI. I had the same problems when adding a Logitech Elite Keyboard (wired) to my
Dell Latitude docking station. The same registry hacked fixed it. Thank you
very much!
