Laptop keeps shutting off
My Dell Inspiron 1545 keep shutting off every time I run McAfee.
My McAfee scheduled full antivirus scan was running and around 52% complete my laptop shut off. I turned it back on, it went straight to starting windows and logging me back in. So I tried to run another McAfee full antivirus scan. It shut off almost immediately. What's the deal, is my McAfee causing my laptop to shut off?

I don't want any viruses on my laptop so McAfee is a must.
Anyone else have any ideas?

Try to download and install a different AV like Microsoft Security Essentials, then run a full scan. If you get the same problem, that means you might have a faulty hardware. If not, then don't use McAfee again.

Hi Elijah
Just did the diagnostics,
error code 0146 and 2000-0146.
What does any of this mean?

KilahS,
Your hard drive is failing. Make copies of files and folders that you cannot afford to lose.
The hard drive needs replaced. If under warranty, contact Dell Tech Support for a replacement.

How much time do I have before it completely crashes, are we sure it's not just a virus?
How do I know it's not a virus that could attack all of my data that I will be trying to back up on my external hard drive?

Elijah
Is this true, is my hard drive failing? Is there any way for me to restore it?
