Issue with installation of audio driver (external sound card - Pioneer DDJ SX2)
I'm running windows 8.1 64-bit on an XPS 15 9530 and am trying to install an audio driver.
So i have a .exe file which installs a driver for an external audio device, but it does not install it.It should install and register a .dll file in the system32 folder but after installation the .dll doesn't show up in the system32 folder. I tried it on a different laptop (windows 8.1 64-bit as well) and there it does work. So it must be a laptop issue.
I also tried running as administrator, starting windows in safe mode and to manually add the .dll and register it with the regsvr32 command but no success. Any suggestions or fixes?
Another possibility could be that as I connected the device before the correct driver was installed (because I thought installation was successful), windows searched for a compatible driver itself. It did find a `compatible´ driver (standard usb), so maybe it uses this as the go-to driver and therefore does not use the manually added driver (with regsvr32 etc.). How can I remove the history of this action, so it´s like I just connected the device for the first time?

Hello. I should have mentioned to not copy and paste your original post or else it would be bounced back here to the Laptop Audio board, but to reformulate your question to be about the issue you think you might have with Windows that is preventing installation of a driver. Sorry.
Also the subject of the thread should be something related to the operating system, not audio. A lotta rules, I know.

Oh, i'm sorry! But i actually fixed it! Did a system restore and manually added the .dll (made sure it wasn't blocked by windows because it came from a different laptop) and then connected the device. Now it works like a charm. Thanks for you help. How do I close the thread?
