Icons disappear when Dragging

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  I just got an I5150 and it appears that when I drag icons on the desktop, I can't see the "shadow image" when moving the icon.

Thanks,

Same happens to me on an 8600 with WSXGA+.

Edit: And I don't think an effect's disabled 'cause it usually shows the icon while dragging on my old old PC.

Right click My Computer

Properties

Advanced Tab

Settings button under performance

Unclick the Show folder - files while dragging.

Apply

Go back again and check it again and the problem will be solved.

Basically check box, apply, uncheck box, apply, then checkbox again and apply

Good luck!

I could have sworn that I tried that at least 10 times and it did not fix my problem.  When the "Show windows contents while dragging" is unchecked, the icons don't disappear anymore, but when I checked that option again, my icons started disappearing again.

Well, I'm not sure what I did, but I eventually did fix this problem by re-installing Windows XP.  There must be some corrupt files cause after the install, all was good.

Why does this thing ship from factory with problems?  I thought they put the computer through some sort of systems test before it is actually shipped out.

Thanks to the forum members for your help,

Eureka! Just un-installed the Dell Media Experience, rebooted and the settings are retained. Problem solved! Unbelievable! Not only is this a simple fix but it is totally Dell's fault with their choice on including Dell Media Center (a product of little utility.)

Hope that helps.
