I did a clean install of Windows 10 PRO - How do I enable desktop mode

Before I did the reinstallation - I had that option when I right click the battery icon on the task bar to enable desktop mode.

Would anyone please tell me which piece of software I need to download to re-enable it?

Thanks!

There is no Quickset software for this particular laptop - so I went through each download on http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/alienware-15/drivers and I eventually installed "Alienware On Screen Display Application" - after the reboot it was back.

It's not really intuitive though.

Thank you ieee48 and Mary G for the great ideas.

Desktop can be accessed via the Windows Key and D.

By stating desktop mode -  I meant the power option that protects the battery when you continously use the laptop on AC power.

Depends on your model computer. Windows Mobility Center also known as Quickset might need to be reinstalled.

You don't protect battery by keeping it plugged in.  You charge to 50 to 80 percent and then remove battery and keep in a cool dry place.  You put it back in once a month to float charge back to 80 percent.

Keeping batteries at 100 percent and in the hot laptop degrades them over time.

Not charging once a month degrades them.

Keeping them cool and partially charged is the case.   Apple laptops for example will not start charging again until the battery reaches 90 percent.

That would be nice if i did not have to disassemble the Alienware 15 R2 to remove the battery.

Speedstep,

I hope you read about what the dell software I have been looking for is all about.
