How the see if ACPI is enabled on a 600m

In another thread I asked for some help on a problem with XP detecting the battery after a re-installation, and there it was suggested to check for ACPI is enabled, but I can't find any such setting in the BIOS version A16. On the power management page (page 6/7) I don't see any ACPI or Plug&Play OS.

Okay if your operating system is installed as a standard PC then ACPI is not enabled.
The only way you can have ACPI enabled it is to reinstall XP!

Look in device manager under system devices. are all the ACPI devices working normally?

ACPI doesn't show up in the device manager.

I checked with my desktop, and there they show up.

On the laptop:
under computer it says "Standard PC"
and no ACPI under System Devices

On Desktop
under computer it says "ACPI Uniprocessor PC"
and ACPI Fixed Feature Button and ACPI Power Button under System Devices

I understand that I have to reinstall XP, but how do I make sure it installs ACPI next time since I can't find any settings in the BIOS. I don't really want to spend another 1/2 day installing it brefore I know why it didn't detect the ACPI.

Anyone knows which setting in the BIOS v A16 on a 600m I need to look at to make sure ACPI is enabled?

Thanks

Jesper

to choose the different modes of install you have to press F5 at setup when you see "the press F6 to install third party scsi or raid drivers".

you shouldn't normally need to bother with an ACPI compliant bios!

I' not sure I understand.
You are saying that at the time I install Windows XP I need to press F5?

A gree that usually I shouldn't have to bother, but since it didn't detect it correct when I did the re-installation, this time I want to make sure it's enabled.

Fixed.

Seems like Windows ( or I ) had a bad day when I re-installed it the first time. Today I decided to simply just ty and install it again, since I wasn't able to find and ACPI settings in the BIOS, and this time windows detected it correct. So now after spending a couple of hourse installing drives and everything, everything is back to 'normal'.
