How many processes should be running?
In my Windows Task Manager under processes, it shows 52 processes running, many of which I have no idea what they are. I routinely run Adaware and keep my virus definitions up to date. Approximately how many processes should be running on a computer used for music, pictures, internet, word processing, phone service, mainly just basic computer stuff, nothing elaborate.

If you don't habe any applications open, there will still be some 50 processes running, they are part of the OS and network communication, including Internet.
CPU load ist still below 50%.
