Help Needed! Vertical Lines showing on my Inspiron 6000 Monitor!
This is how my screen is looking on my Laptop. It happened a week ago, when I lifted the computer from my bedroom floor. If I press with my thumb firmly in the middle of the screen frame, I can se the whole picture, but as soon as I let go it goes back to the lines.
I have reset the computer several times, but it doesn't help a bit.
There's no warranty left either, since I bought the computer back in Sept 2005 thru Dell's Swedish Homepage.
What can I do about this? IS there anything I can do or do I have to buy a new Laptop?

Attach an external display to the laptop. If the lines don't show up on that, then the laptop display is defective. A specialist display repairer can determine whether or not the display can be repaired.

Hi,
It seems like there's a problem with the screen :emotion-6:
I just managed to connect a 2nd monitor to the laptop and the vertical lines are not showing on it.
I read something on this community that Dell has offered to replace both screens and batteries on certain laptop-models, such as the one I own.
Could that be an option?
I know that the screen offer is limited to 3 yrs from when you bought the laptop, but the thing is that my problem occured just a couple of months after that time frame.:emotion-39:
Shouldn't that be covered anyway? If not that's very frustrating and dissapointing!!!!!
I've looked up how much a replacement screen would cost, and it's like $350 if I would try to do it myself (which I wouldn't dare to do!). Taking the laptop to a repair shop is too expensive. Also, I'm not made of money, since I'm on Disability leave.
Another thing is: Why didn't Dell inform me about these issues on Inspiron 6000? I have spent days, nights and many more hours, trying to find a solution to my problem, before I finally found that information thru this community.
Now I need to check if my laptop battery needs to bo exchanged....:emotion-40:

I have reviewed the case number that you posted and your system was purchased over 4 years ago and is no longer covered by the 3 year replacement policy we have in place. You have a few options on repairing the system. You can purchase a replacement LCD from us either from our Spare Parts department and replace the screen yourself or have a 3rd party install it for you. Or you can purchase a replacement service option from our Out of Warranty group who can arrange for the part to be installed by one of our contract technicians. or you can purchase the LCD from a 3rd party, such as ebay or a local computer supply company.
Dear ____Identity Edit____,
Thanks for getting back to me regarding the LCD Vertical Line issues on my Inspiron 9200. I was not understanding why the posts were pulled, attempting to edit the content, and not realizing that the sources of the problem, (names of people spoken to, case number identifiers), needed to be pulled from the record. If you need to delete items posted today, February 26, I understand. I just need for there to be a record that it took 6 attempts to actually get the information I needed, which finally came today from you. The information from you today I found to be satisfactory. Yet, while I remain dissatisfied with Dell products and overall, the warranty, payment options for North American customer service, offshore customer service, and and offshore tech support processes, I am pleased that you made the effort to help me today. As I research articles on Dell, I continue to find support which highlights overall consumer dissatisfaction with Dell products and the decision of Dell to outsourse customer service resources. Certainly I am disgusted with the case of warranty expiration on my computer. Yet, the greater concern is that Dell is not adequately managed in addressing consumer service needs through methods of telephone communication.
Thank you,
-D-

Inspiron 6000 Vertical Lines: Be persistent and ask tech support to escalate to Customer Relations in Texas. After several years of relying on tech support in India to resolve the issue, I finally convinced them that I'll keep calling and insisting Dell take responsibility for their faulty product. My 6000 eventually became out of waurantee and that then became their excuse for not helping me. Be persistent. Keep calling. I was sent a new lcd the other day, and then following the instructions posted on the Dell site, I was able to replace it myself in about a half hour.
