External monitor resolution Latitude D620 with Intel 945GM Chipset

I have a Latitude D620 based on the Intel 945GM Chipset and I am in the process of buying a new external (widescreen) TFT monitor that I want to connect to this system. Almost all decent widescreen TFT monitors have a native 1680x1050 resolution these days and I can't find out if my system supports that resolution.

With my current monitor connected I tried "List all modes" for the graphics adapter in Windows with the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" box unchecked it seems like 1600x1024 is the closest that I can get. I am afraid that this will not look good on a 1680x1050 display.

Does anyone know if there is a way to make this system run on 1680x1050 resolution. I am running Windows XP Professional on this system and I have the latest driver installed for the graphics (6.14.10.4764).

Thanks,

Kees!

You should get a CD with your new monitor with the appropriate drivers. I bought a Dell 20" widescreen flat panel monitor several years ago to use with a Inspiron 8600 and a dock. Worked great.
