Dell Studio 1747 media control keys and eject button question
Hello I have a Dell Studio 1747. I have used the touch sensitive media control keys numerous times. Every time you touch one like volume a preview would come up on the screen showing the volume level ( it would show a symbol for every touch control on the screen when I pressed it, mute eject, etc. since a little bit ago however when I press for example the volume up key it turns the volume up but the preview on the screen doesn't come up or pop up anymore. It doesn't show any of the previews for any of the buttons. How do I get it back to where it shows the previews or icons on the screen again? Also, the touch sensitive eject button lest work nor does the function key for it. When impress either one the disk drive used to make a noise and eject the disc. It doesn't do it anymore so I have to do it manually. Anyone know what the problem is with it? Thanks guys

Hi Kiwala10,
This could happen if the Quickset application is not installed or if it is not working properly. I suggest you to download the install the Quickset application from the following link to enable the preview:

Thanks. Downloading the quickset application fixed the preview problem. One
more question though. The eject preview comes up when i press it but the
drive doesnt make a sound and it doesnt eject the disk. I have to manually
eject te disk with my computer and right clicking the disk. The function
key for ejecting disks doesnt work either both wont work. The cd drive
doesnt make the noise and doesnt eject the disc. Any ideas on how i could
get it to work again? It used to

Hi Kiwala10,
Thank you for your reply and for providing an update on the status. You will need to configure the keyboard media control keys using the Function Key Behavior in the System Setup (BIOS) utility. Please follow the steps provided below:
1. Restart the laptop and start tapping F2 at the Dell logo to load the BIOS screen.
2. Navigate to the “Advanced” menu and change “Function Key Behavior” to “Multimedia”.
3. Save the changes and exit.
Please check if the eject option works when you press the key on the keyboard.

I read this thread and had exactly the same problem with my Dell Studio 1747! I loaded all the latest upgraded drivers and after a few days of frustration I found this thread when I put the symptoms of my laptop on line. I followed the link you posted downloaded and installed the Quickset drivers, restarted my laptop and hey presto everything was working as before. Thanks to your knowledge i'm happy again :emotion-1:
