Bluetooth Mouse-Dell with Belkin Bluetooth USP Adapter

Why can't my computer automatically connect the BT mouse throught the USP BT adapter?  I bought my Inspiron 1720 without Bluetooth (a mistake I now see).  I purchased a Dell BT Travel Mounse and a Belkin BT USB Adapter so be used to connect the mouse. All the drivers and software is installed and working.  My issue is when I start the laptop, it finds the usb bt adapter just find and connects.  But it never then finds the connected mouse.  The mouse is turned on and the bt led is flashing.  I have to use the touchpad and to to Bluetooth Devices and Add the mouse each time I start the pc.  It then goes out and finds the mouse and it works.  How can I get this to do it automatically when it finds the adapter.  It's like it doesn't save the Dell BT Travel mouse in the devices.  When I look at Device Managers, the mouse doesn't show up even when it is in use.  What else can I do? -Linda
