Dell Inspiron 14Z 5423 is configured with a normal spill-resistant Slimkeyboard. You will not be able to replace a backlit keyboard. The backlit keyboard you have looked in eBay site are for Inspiron 14z N411Z.
so have you found anything that fits..?. you'd think dell would produce one considering its looked for by a good amount of people or at least make a limited run
Thanks for posting your comments and bringing this to our notice. Customer feedback plays an important role in evaluating our products and services. As per now we do not have any updates if the Inspiron 14z (5423) would be launched with a back-lit keyboard. As the system is a currently shipping model, I would suggest you to share your ideas on IdeaStorm so that they might get implemented sometime in the future.

Hi
I just read your above comment. I was doing some research on how to convert my Inspiron 14Z 5423 model's keyboard to a back lit option.
If you have figured out a compatible backlit keyboard for this model do share the details so I can source it
thanks
James
