Additional User and MS Account

New Inspiron 11.  Set up went well and I was able to set myself up as a user without a MS account.  I want to add another family member as another user, but it seems to require that they have a MS account.  How do I get around this?  Is there an advantage to both having a MS account? Thanks !!!

Hi JERRY-IL,

What is the current OS installed on the system?

Presuming it is Win 10 OS, here is how to create a local account - http://bit.ly/2aGgsm7

I ran into a similar issue setting up a new system and suspected the same reason. The normal Win10 Settings Panel method of adding a new user would not allow me to add another local account. You can use the Command Prompt to do it.

1. Open an "Administrator" level Command Prompt (Right-click the Start Menu button and select "Command Prompt (Admin)" from the list.

2. Enter this command:

      net  user  username  password  /add

    - where "username" is the name of the user you want to set up

    - and "password" is the password you wish to assign to the that user

I assume you do not want to make it an admin account. If you do, you should now be able to use Control Panel > User Accounts to do it.

Yes, but they really make it more difficult than it needs to be.

Hi JERRY-IL,

Thank you for the update.

Well, with technology advancing, so is the user experience I would say.

You could find few Windows 10 guides here that might help:
