model 1501... Will not charge battery, when i plug in the external power a quickset message appears and says the ac adapter can not be recognized, the computer will not charge and will run slower... Upon startup the same message appears during the boot process.
I just started getting a similar error message over the last two days on my brand new Dell XPS 1730. I'm really afraid after everything I have loaded on there (school, work, games) that I will probably have to send it back.
Anyone finding any kind of quick solutions?? I was about to post about an error message I'm recieving concerning a RAID 0 that the computer is unable to find now or something like that.
Have you a solution yet. I have had a similar problem. I had a brand new Inspirion 1720 fully loaded that had the message after about 3 weeks of use. I thought the power cord was not plugged in tightly. I continued to receive the message more frequently and was sent two other dell adapters as dell said it was probably the adapter. Dell would not replace the system as they said it was over 21 days old but the unit had the problem when it was less than one month old! I am now having the mother board replaced tomorrow. Hope that works or I am asking for another new laptop without problems.
Dell replaced the motherboard last week, the heat sink and the fan were also replaced but still get the error message almost constantly. I have been through 3 power adapters all original dell products, and a new motherboard. I have contacted dell to refund me my money on this brand new system. I have owned computers for over 15 years and never had this issue before. I am aftaid when my warranty runs out I will be stuck with a defective computer from the start.
A shame because I have three other dells that run without a problem. Maybe this was a bad batch. I use this computer every day for work so I need a reliable computer that I paid over $2000 for.
I have the same problem with my inspiron 1720... sometimes computer does not recognize my AC adapter. and then it works only with 614mhz and 1.0V. The original speed is 2200mhz and 1.4V...
then I turn of the computer and put the cable out and in again... after that it runs with full speed again. it is strange. and some times it takes just a secund or two at the start screen (dell) and sometimes it takes 30 secunds...
I already change the adapter but it is the same. sometimes work sometimes not...
I still had the problem. Dell replaced with a new computer this week. All is OK so far but I am cautiously waiting three weeks as that is when I had the problem started on the new system.
Same problem here. Inspiron 1505, whenever i start up my computer it tells me the AC adapter is not recognized etc. Right now the AC adapter maintains the charge in the computer, but it doesn't replenish the charge of the computer (I'm stuck at 7%). Once, separating the AC Adapter in half (There's a junction on the end of the adapter itself) and plugging it back together worked, but the problem came back and that didn't work this time. C'mon Dell give us a break.
