To get this information you need to log on to support, enter your model number and most importantly Enter your Service Tag Number.
That will open all the hardware information on your Particular notebook, You should download and read your Service Manual there you will find out how to open your notebook and the details of your RAM Set up.
Thanks for the info and links. So, each RAM slot can accept either 2, 3, 4, or 8 GB RAM, as long as the total RAM does not exceed 16 GB, correct? Can you install a 16 GB RAM in one slot?
I just noticed you asking about a Desktop this is notebook forum. However it's much easier or you, simply open up your desktop and get the numbers off your current RAM match up with what you have. or equivalent you'll find many conversion charts for desktop RAM. or just pull what you have and drop in 2 or 4 matched set. More likely than not Hwinfo64 will give you all the data on your current RAM encluding brand and model timings and voltage

Welcome to the Dell Community @migoblu
@Clintlgm the OP must be mistaken because there is not an Inspiron 5755 Desktop.
I took the time to search for both Desktop and Laptop and could only find it listed as a laptop.
Inspiron 17 5755 Specifications:
https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-17-5755-laptop_reference%20guide_en-us.pdf
Slot: Two SODIMM slots
Type: DDR3L
Speed : 1600 MHz
Configurations supported: 4 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB
That would mean 8GB DDRL3 per slot with 16GB max.
Compatible Memory for Dell Inspiron 17 (5755)

Inspiron 17 5755 Service Manual:
https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-17-5755-laptop_service%20manual_en-us.pdf
Memory Remove/Replace starts on page 23.

@migoblu
Now for that I am not sure but I think it is not possible.
I would need to find your model in my warehouse and test it before I could say yes or no???
In any case you want 2 matching pairs of memory to take advantage of "Dual Channel Memory"

Thanks. Will that information be available if my notebook is out of warranty?
