How to connect external microphone designed for dslr camera to laptop

I have a SONY UWP D21 wireless microphone system designed for a dslr camera and I would like to use it on my laptop in the zoom classes I teach I have a dell inspiron 15 series 5000.
On the laptop I have a headphone jack, I tried to connect the receiver with a splitter to headphone and microphone but the computer did not pick it up.
Do you have any knowledge on the subject? Maybe if I were using a USB microphone adapter it would work?
