I need help also. I have same, works perfectly on my 2015 MacBook Pro, however my 2022 MacBook Pro it does not work. I used a usb to usb-c dongle and it failed. I bought a new cable so I can go direct to usb-c and it fails. It just clicks. Again it works fine on my older 2015. It does show up in system information however. Not sure what to do next?
@kruegra1 Other people in the past have theorized that the clicking sound happens when the DVD drive is not getting enough power through the USB port. So the older MacBook might be providing more power through its USB port than your newer one.
