Dell 14-3452 BIOS update error after motherboard replace
Hi,
I have a 14-3452 laptop and I had to replace the motherboard. Originaly on my old mb there wasn't sata port and it had a cpu with 2 cores. I ordered a new mb with sata port and N3700 4core cpu. The problem is, I cannot update the BIOS. The error mesage: "Running on unsopported system" I tried newer BIOS as well and I have got the same message always. The picture shows that the last 3 characters not the same in the system lines.
Is that the problem? Can I modified the value? Can I make a force update somehow?
error
Thanks a lot.
I set the Asset tag and Service tag to the value that is bottom of my laptop. But nothing was changed.

I found a solution:
As the first picture shown in my first post something wrong my motherboard dell id/system id, because on my board is 0x0000 but in the original bios file is 6AC. This is the main reason that the program not allowed me to update. There is an Aptio bios on Dell 3452, I checked it when entered into bios in the header line.
I found some information that it possible to update Aptio bios with afudos. I downloded AMI firmware update utility from here https://ami.com/en/products/bios-uefi-tools-and-utilities/bios-uefi-utilities/
You find it in "Aptio V" section.
I downloaded the latest bios (exe file) from dell site, then extracted the header file with /writehdrfile commant line option. (dellbios.exe /writehdrfile)
I made a freedos boot usb drive with rufus and copied afudos & bios header file to this fat32 drive.
I started the system from this usb
I saved the current bios with "afudos old.rom /O"
I compared the current and latest bios guid with "afudos /S" and "afudos latest_dell.hdr /U"
You can check the process without flash in this way: "afudos latest_dell.hdr /D"
Final command: afudos latest_dell.hdr
In this way I can upgraded my bios to version 4.4 from 3.03, so my phone jack on my motherboard is working properly now and it recognize when I plug in a headphone.
Maybe I was lucky, so everything is your risk !!!!
Sorry for my English. :)

Chances are the newer board is from a different model system. What is the Dell part number on the board (look for a number beginning with DP/N on the board. It looks like the model that ships with that CPU is the 3552.

When I tried to download 3452 or 3552 bios files as I remember I downloded in the same files.
It is the title on the Dell website. "Dell Inspiron 3452/3552 System BIOS"

What model is reported on the setup screen (F2 at powerup)?

Here some additional info.
I started the downloaded exe files on Windows7.
When I tried flash BIOS at startup (F2) from USB it says: "Dell id does not match"

JX7F0 is an Inspiron 3452 board.
Drivers here:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/inspiron-24-3452-aio/drivers
What version of the BIOS is on the board now (is it possible what you bought is a beta board with an unreleased BIOS version)?

I tried this but I got the same error.
The current bios version on the pictures that I attached.
There is a miimimal difference on the first picture in first post between the current bios and downloded bios file exept the last 3 characters, but I don't know what does it mean....
Maybe this is the Dell ID.

Why are you trying to flash an Inspiron 3052 all-in-one BIOS onto a 3452 notebook?

The reason that failed is that they're the same BIOS version. There's no point in flashing the same BIOS version on the system.
There is a 4.4.0 upgrade if you're looking for the latest BIOS revision for the 14-3452.

Anyway, in the first post I tried a 3452 bios on 3452 motherboard, everything seems ok except the last 3 character on the systeminfo row. Please see tha attached picture.
File BIOS : 14-3452 6AC
Current BIOS: 14-3452 0

Contact the seller to have the board replaced - something is wrong with it.

It looks like Dell has an all-in-one with the same model number.
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-14-3452-laptop/drivers
That should be correct for the Inspiron notebook.

Thank you very much!
This method helped me update the BIOS on my Dell Inspiron 14-3452. In the usual way, the BIOS could not be updated. An error popped up, as in the picture.
There was also a problem with the microphone. After updating the BIOS, the microphone appeared in the devices.
You described everything very well. The way is working! Thanks again.
