jimmy195068,

Start, control panel, Internet Options, connections. LAN settings. Check the top box, but make sure all the other boxes are unchecked. Especially the bottom one, use a proxy server

I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro and ran into the exact scenrio you describe.   You are correct,  you cannot change the proxy settings (they are restored when you exit the screen).   I finally resorted to a restore.  System Restore is a system protection feature available in Control Panel | System and Security | System.   System Restore does not affect any of your documents, pictures or other personal data.

I shut down my laptop one evening and when i turned it on and tried to get back online i got the message i typed above. it sugested i go to tools> Internet options > Connections. If on a LAN, click on LAN Settings. I did this but the check is in the use a proxy server for your lan. I tried to change this but it will not let me rather when i do try to check the automatically detect settings then get out of these settings it comes right back to the use proxy server box.

Is there some one there that might be able to suggest to me what i can do to check this out ?
