A EqualLogic is a BLOCK Storage like many others and when speaking of iSCSI its true for all of them. The SAN has no information about what the Host is doing or what kind of Filesystem the Host is use.
The EQL doesnt know anything about NTFS, EXT3,4,ReFS or Filepermissions.

Hello,

As mentioned it can't be done at the SAN level.  Block storage is very different from NAS devices.

However, one way to do what you want in VMware ESXi, attach the NTFS (EQL) volume to to a VM via Raw Device Mapping (RDM).   Then create the VMDK disk you want to migrate the NTFS data to.  When you boot up the VM, you can copy the files from NTFS/RDM to VMDK.  Then shutdown the VM, and UNMAP the RDM/NTFS volume.  Boot back up and you are done, and you still have the data on the EQL NTFS volume as a roll back.

Regards,

Don
