Neongirl,

Go here:

http://support.microsoft.com/support/windows/topics/errormsg/kbkern.asp

Do you have all those programs open simultaneously? If so, close one down (preferably AOL if you don't need it) and try your work again. Eliminate an open program until the issue ceases then you will know which program has caused this error.

Neongirl,

OK, this can be a tough one to solve. As you can see kernel32.dll is a critical file.

Some items you may try, and some are outlined in the URL I posted:

1. Run scanreg.exe and see if you have any registry errors (start | run | type in: scanreg.exe )

2. It could come from older software you installed, if any, with incompatible drivers. Any other software installed since you got your system? Sometimes they overwrite .dll files with older ones. And sometimes this causes attemps to access protected memory/identical memory blocks in use.

3. A virus

You ARE using an AV program aren't you? Set to scan ALL files?

Have a startup (boot disk handy), one from Dell? Keep it handy just in case.

I would try 1 & 3 as these are the simplest tests to perform. Otherwise, I don't know.

Did you call Dell Tech Support since this was a problem from near the beginning?

Brandi,

Go here:

And it's scanreg.exe NOT scan.exe
