Service Tag information lost in BIOS when motherboard replaced

I have a GX 280 that required a motherboard change. The service tag information when viewing the set up information (F2 setup when computer is booting) is lost. Is there a way to re-code that data back into the BIOS or CMOS?

There is an undocumented command switch which you can use with asset.com. It
is the '/s' switch, and works exactly like the '/a' and '/o' switches.

Thus, the command:

ASSET /s XXXXXXX

Will create the Service Tag represented by the X's.

I dont know what my service tag is and its not on my dell Optiplex GX520 anywhere. I bought it used and replaced the Mobo. How can I create a new one or get another?

Look at the top of the case or the barcode on the back edge.

Service Tag:. What is a Service Tag? Find My Service Tag http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&l=en&s=gen&dn=1027149

Look on the back and the bottom of the unit.

Service tag is Serial number.  Label that says model number and serial number the Serial is your service tag.

On the back where the keyboard mouse etc plugs in its a Barcoded White Label Number.

Are you saying your service tag and express service code is some kind of numeric equation you can calculate if you know the serial number? What is the calculation if so?  My case has a serial number, but no sticker with the service tag or express service code and its not found in my bios. Is there anyway to recover it? I bought the machine used.
