Optiplex 990 Diagnostic Utility ?
We have about 300 new Optiplex 990's and I have experienced my first hardware issue. I went to download the diagnostic utility from the web site and it isn't there. I can go find one for the 980's or the 960's that we used to use but nothing for the 990's. Does anyone know when it will be released or are diagnostics done a different way on the 990's ?

Did you reboot and press F12 before Windows starts to load? There should be an option on the F12 menu for Utilities partition which will take you to the diagnostics.
You may be able to request a CD with the diagnostics by contacting Dell directly, assuming they didn't provide one with the system.

Hi Lunarcom,
I too ran into this issue. The 990s appear to have a different diagnostic utility setup. Apparently, you just do F12->diagnostics and you get the whole tree for diagnostics and the ability to run the custom test. No partition needed. Oddly enough, there seems to be a similar setup on the 980s as when I removed all partitions, the diagnostics partition would still run as normal. No idea what's changed but definitely like to see some manual or information regarding those changes. Did you happen across anything like that?
