The memory offer for Precision Tower 3620 and 3420 has been updated to support a maximum of 32GB memory in 4 DIMM slots. It also provides support for memory speed DDR4 2133MHz ECC UDIMM or Non-ECC memory, as well as DIMM Density of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and up to 64GB. Its minimum supported memory size is 4GB.

I'm sorry but where did you get that information from? I'm rather puzzled by this max 32GB offer, all the documentation I have seen and even during the checkout process, Dell allows a customer to select 64 GB ram - charing a ridiculous amount of money for that - must be said.
Then you also seem to contradict yourself by posting the following:
Specification
Type DDR4, NECC, and ECC
Speed 2133 MHz
Connectors Four DIMM slots
Capacity 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB
Minimum memory 4 GB
Maximum memory 64 GB
Whatever this is, Dell can't come now, after the fact stating a system can no longer support what it said it would support initially - if that is the case, this machine is going straight back to you.
What does Crucial.com's memory scanner tell you the pc can support? Go there and run it. Post the results. You also need to take note of the speed of the RAM offered. Did you buy your RAM from a third party?
False advertising. Unit will not take 64GB of RAM. Even the statement from the Dell Rep on this thread describes confusion around IF it can take 64GB of RAM.
Thanks Jesse. I have a 64GB kit of ECC PC4 2400Mhz UDIMM. My expectation after hours of research was that the 2400Mhz would be stepped down or lowered to 2133Mhz by way of all slots being filled, and because the chipset supposedly is capable of 2400Mhz speeds. The kits are for sale and claim to work in the Dell 3000T's (3620, 34xx, ...). Initially when looking at the Dell configurator tool for memory options, Dell had not yet updated their site to reflect memory options beyond 32GB for the Dell 3620. I know this because I scoured Dell.com and the Internet trying to find a manual that was not a quick-start guide to help me make this determination. Clearly 3rd party RAM vendors are not yet up do date with the miscommunication\misinformation, who are currently citing the 2400MHz ECC RAM would be compatible, but it snot.
I researched the chipset\proc to confirm they could potentially use RDIMM, verified speed capabilities, etc. The Intel proc\chipset claims to be capable, however the way the pc is programmed does not seem to allow for the unsupported RDIMM, and now apparently 2400Mhz ECC UDIMM but only if 64GB kit is used. Consumers are left wondering IF 64GB works at all, as only 32GB kits were\are cited at Dell as of a few months ago (or sooner) as available RAM upgrade options. I resorted to 3rd party RAM because no options at Dell existed at the time.
I do not see 64GB kit @ DDR4\PC4 2400MHz ECC UDIMM in your response, but a basically identical 2133Mhz kit IS. Clearly the 2400Mhz RAM could easily be stepped down to clock at 2133Mhz, this is common especially when all RAM slots are full, as it may absorb more power at the top end (in Mhz), the systems often tune them back to 2133Mhz, depending.
Unfortunately I have to waste even more time on this, so I hope to report back later if a 64GB ECC kit DOES actually work to help save others some time.
UP. upupupupupupupupupupupupup upup uuuuup upupup up
From the Dell Specs Doc for the 3620:
"4 Dimm Slots; Up to 64GB 2400Mhz Non-ECC & ECC DDR4 Memory (2400Mhz memory clocks down to 2133Mhz when paired with 6th Gen Intel Processors)" --my previous purchases of 64GB RAM kits may not have had correct Rank and the other was ECC Registered as opposed to Unbuffered (if I am not mistaken).
My GUESS is that 64GB 2133\2400 ECC DDR4 Unbuffered, but of what Rank (4 or 8 rank)? Please. This has been a terrible experience. I am over it.
I finally found a 64GB kit that was compatible. At the top end (64 GB Max in this dell), use 2133Mhz UDIMM ECC CL15, not 2400Mhz (even though all kits less than 64GB accept 2400mhz). At least it's ECC.
When maxing out RAM kits for a motherboard, keep in mind Rank can have an impact on performance. 2-channel rdimm is usually the best, but this isn't that. ;p

Done that way before I bought the memory from crucial. The sticks I got came out as part of the result set - would not have done it otherwise

The_PC_IS_DYING,
Apologies for stating 32GB in my first reply. We do support 64GB memory on the Precision 3420.
The Precision 3420 USA sales page shows a maximum of 64GB DDR4 via four Dell validated 16GB sticks =
We cannot speak to the functionality of any 3rd party memory. The Dell validated 16GB memory sticks with Dell part number are below =
YXC0V 2400MHz
V51K2 2133MHz
7XRW4 2133MHz
The Owner's Manual specifications also show a maximum of 64GB =

UP.
WHAT ARE THE PRECISE SPECS FOR THE Dell 3620 64GB RAM KITs? Rank is not specified in the response listed above. DR8 or DR4?
THESE DO NOT WORK:
I have tried Crucial's 64GB kit: Crucial 64GB Kit (16GBx4) DDR4 2133 (PC4-2133) DR x4 288-Pin Server Memory CT4K16G4RFD4213 / CT4C16G4RFD4213
And tried a Kingston 64GB Kit: Kingston ValueRAM 64GB Kit (4x16GB) 2400MHz DDR4 ECC Reg CL17 DIMM 2Rx4 Desktop Memory (KVR24R17D8K4/64)
Will a 64GB Kit (16GBx4) DDR4 2133 (PC4-2133) [[[DR x8]]] 288-Pin Server work????
Thanks....
