I need to know how fast of a processor I can put in these systems and what I need to do this. I have read alot about this and have found conflicting answers. I have found the upgrade can be 1.0GHz to 1.4 GHZ. I have found that I may need an adapter. What do I need? Coppermine w/out Adapt. or Tualatin w/Adapt. I am pretty good at computer stuff, but need some help in making sure I get the information before I buy. I can't afford 3 new computers. I also like the ones I have.

I've upgraded a lot of GX110's as they are a good stable machine. Are your socket 370 or slot 1? To go over a gig, you'll need the powerleap module which goes up to 1.4Ghz I think I'd leave the 933 alone. You won't notice much power boost with it to justify the cost The slot 1 powerleap is pricey, money wise go 1.3 or 1.2 socket 370 1 gig cpu's are pretty cheap. Make sure you get some thermal grease when you install the cpu's you'll also want to get some 256m unbuffered sdram to up them all to 512.

sorry about not posting that, all of the pc's are socket 370 fc-pga. Do I need to use coppermine CPU (staying away from Tualatin) and do I go up to a 1.3 ghz. before I need an adapter? The PowerLeap 370/T is obsolete and they now have a NEO/T that is $129.95 changes socket 370 FC-PGA to a FC-PGA2. I want to make sure I get this right and buy the right stuff. I plan to max out the pc's on Ram and do know about the thermal grease but thanks for reminder. I am pretty good at this stuff but a mess up with a cpu can fry a whole system. Thanks for any and all of your help, Laurie

If max performance and money no object, then the neo is the way to go. If money is an issue, a coppermine cpu would be a lot cheaper. In economics, buying the video, the cpu and the memory puts you in the league for a used P4 system

Okay I found a processor it is a aSL52R 1000MHZ. Coppermine. I checked one my processors and it was a SL4CB. would processor I found be compatable. I read something somewhere about it may not be if the chip has a "4" it is not able to use a chip with a "5". If that is true I m;ay never be able to upgrade as all the processor I have seen so far are SL52R. Thanks Again for your help. Laurie

Here is a link to intel http://processorfinder.intel.com/List.aspx?ProcFam=25&sSpec=&OrdCode= They list both processors. It looks like it a go from what I can tell. The GX110 can take 100 or 133 fsb so I think any .18 micron cpu in the same package will work for you. There is a 7 lot set of cpu's with the model you mentioned going on ebay ending in a couple of hours that would be worth it. Heck I could even use a couple for mine.
